The Holystone - Open Mic Sessions / Charity CD

Performers from the Thursday open mic nights at The Holystone pub have recorded a 20 track compilation CD to raise funds for CANCER RESEARCH UK.

The disc will be launched on Thursday 8th November with acoustic performances from many of the players. Former Lindisfarne member and record producer Steve Daggett who has hosted the regular night for the past year and co-ordinated the project said “There are plenty open mic nights and busker evenings all over the north-east, many attracting some very talented players but to my knowledge The Holystone is the first venue to make a CD of the performers. We have an excellent cross section of artists on this recording ranging from seasoned professionals who frequently call in to enthusiastic amateurs and absolute beginners. Many write their own original songs and I think people will be impressed by the high quality and potential of their work. The recording session and manufacturing costs were paid for by kind donations from local business men and societies meaning every penny from sales of the disc will go to the Holystones’ designated charity Cancer Research UK."

Apart from Steve, other featured acts on HOLYSTONE - OPEN MIC SESSIONS are Peter Donegan (son of the legendary Lonnie Donegan), emerging Sunderland based songwriter Paul Liddell and Simma from Newcastle’s Acoustic Circus. Alongside these established names is 19 year old singer Gary Anderson, who since recording his track for the Holystone album has finished third in a national talent completion, played to 15.000 people supporting Westlife and is on the verge of signing a major management contract.

The OPEN MIC SESSIONS album will be on sale at The Holystone from Thursday 8th November or is available by mail-order from www.stevedaggett.co.uk. Other outlets to be confirmed. Price 7.50 (mail order 8.50 inc p&p)
